The War Heritage Institute is a Belgian institution dedicated to the preservation, study, and promotion of military historical heritage. It preserves, documents, and exhibits important collections of objects, archives, photographs, weapons, uniforms, and vehicles related to Belgian and international military history.

Through its exhibitions, publications, research, and educational resources, the institute highlights the conflicts, strategic developments, and human realities of periods of war, while promoting understanding of the impact of the armed forces on society.

The mission of the War Heritage Institute

To contribute to the memory, knowledge, and understanding of military heritage by collecting and preserving historical sources, conducting scientific research, and presenting educational exhibits that enable the public, professionals, and defense stakeholders to better understand history and evolution of military strategies, technologies, and engagements.

Yes, but only on Saturday, March 14. Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 are strictly reserved for defence and security professionals (industry, institutions, armed forces, public authorities, research and accredited media).

Visitors must be able to justify a professional activity related to defence/security: official delegations, industrial companies, subcontractors, authorities, relevant NGOs, researchers, accredited media, exhibitors’ guests.

Yes. Access is prohibited to those under 16 years of age on the professional days (Thursday 12 and Friday 13 March). On Saturday 14 March, the exhibition is also open to the general public, and access is permitted to minors under 18 years of age.

 In all cases, minors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
