Description

VoxelSensors is a Belgian deep tech startup specializing in semiconductors and 3D perception, founded in 2020 and based in Brussels, Belgium. The company is developing a proprietary sensor technology called SPAES (Single Photon Active Event Sensor), based on arrays of single-photon avalanche photodiodes (SPADs) capable of generating up to 100 million 3D voxels per second with extremely low power consumption (less than 10 milliwatts) and ultra-low latency. This technology addresses the markets of extended reality (XR/AR/VR), smartphones, robotics, drones, automotive, and medical. In 2024, VoxelSensors acquired the intellectual property of the Israeli company EyeWay Vision to integrate gaze tracking capabilities. The company raised a total of €9.5 million in its seed round, with investors such as Capricorn Partners, Qbic Fund, SFPIM Relaunch, and Finance&Invest. Brussels. It is supported by the NATO DIANA program and the European Union EIC Accelerator (Horizon), and has around 20 employees.

VoxelSensors' mission

VoxelSensors' mission is to merge the physical and digital worlds by developing the next generation of intelligent perception systems for Physical AI. Leveraging its SPAES technology—the lowest power consumption and lowest latency on the market—the company aims to provide mobile, XR, and industrial device manufacturers with solutions for spatial awareness, gaze tracking, and natural interaction that make immersive experiences truly indistinguishable from reality.
