Description

The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union, responsible for defining and proposing policies, laws, and strategies that guide the Union's actions in all areas, including security, defense, cybersecurity, strategic industry, and innovation. It ensures that European law is applied in the Member States, manages the EU budget, negotiates international agreements, and coordinates cross-cutting programs that support the resilience of societies in the face of complex threats.

In the context of defense and security, the Commission works to strengthen European industrial capabilities, support operational preparedness and crisis management, and develop a single market for security and defense products and services.

The mission of the European Commission

To design and implement European policies that strengthen the security, resilience, and competitiveness of Member States and their industries by promoting innovation, legal harmonization, coordinated crisis management, and the development of a structured European framework for security and defense in an unstable geopolitical environment.
